about

This is a wonderful conversation between author Amy Heart and illustrator / activist Wriply Marie Bennet. Recorded on February 12, 2019 via Kickstarter LIVE.

ABOUT WRIPLY
I’m Wriply Marie Bennet. I’m a proud, self-taught illustrator, actor, writer and singer born and raised in Ohio. My art and organizing work started with the Trans Women of Color Collective and expanded in Ferguson when I was a freedom rider traveling to stand with Mike Brown’s family and community. My work expresses the perseverance, power, strength, resilience, grace and beauty of Black Trans Women, Fems, GNC, and Queer folks. My work sheds light on the lack of national outcry over the epidemic of black trans women murdered each year at the hands of state sanctioned violence and Toxic Masculinity. My art has been used in numerous social justice flyers, fundraisers, online gallery shows, city wide campaigns, and made its first film debut in (MAJOR!), a documentary at the 2015 San Francisco. I’m also a powerful organizer and activist.
